Can you all relate to that feeling you get when someone gives you a pass? You know… maybe you snapped at your husband, or maybe you couldn’t come through on something you committed to come through on for a friend, or maybe you showed up late to your kid’s practice. And the person that you are anticipating judging you for it or being upset with you says, “It’s all good. Don’t sweat it.” Your husband understands you’re tired. Your friend understands that life happens. The soccer coach reassures you that he knows how hard it is to get out the door with kids sometimes.

That feeling is RELIEF that you don’t have to explain yourself. It’s stress off your shoulders. It’s appreciation that someone just understands that you don’t have it all together all of the time.

Well today I hand YOU a pass…

But it’s not for you. It’s for you to give to someone else.

To give to a friend that took two days to respond to your text… because you know she might be up to her ears at work or buried in responsibilities at home. To give to your coworker who was rude to you at the water cooler… because you give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he has something tough going on in his life. To give to your husband when he has an attitude when he walks in the door… because maybe he had a rough meeting with his boss. To give to your child when they act out before nap time… because you know how YOU feel when you’re tired.

Because just as good as it feels to GET a pass, it’s good for the soul and positive for your spirit to GIVE a pass too. To not harbor negativity… and to allow someone else to not have to harbor anxiety either. To understand that everyone is fighting some sort of battle, and to give them that benefit of the doubt.

Give away your pass today.

I promise you it feels better than hanging on to it.
